IRATTI MADHURAM / LICORICE ROOT

As the name suggests, Iratti Madhuram or licorice roots have a bitter-sweet taste. It has high nutritional value and contains a compound called glycyrrhizin, which is believed to be sweeter than sugar and has anti-inflammatory properties. They are added to soft drinks for a sweeter flavour.
